Candy Shop!

The new issue is up at Paper Issues today... Candy Shop! I am a lover of all things sugar, and I have to say that Easter has some of the best candy of all the holidays! So, in honor of Easter candy everywhere, here's an Easter basket made of Blossom twine from The Twinery!

The basket is made by wrapping a balloon in twine soaked in a simple syrup of sugar and water. Is anyone interested in a tutorial? I'm thinking of making some smaller baskets this week and putting one together. It's a little involved, but they last forever. My grandma made the grandkids each one over 20 years ago and I still have mine in perfect condition! Here's a few close-up shots of the basket...

During this issue, Paper Issues is also giving away an awesome candy-colored kit full of Dear Lizzy Neapolitan goodies, twine from The Twinery and some other trims. Have you seen that cloud vellum? It's my absolute favorite! You just have to like them on Facebook and follow the PI blog- get bonus entries by linking up a project or sharing the giveaway! You have until March 31 to link up your Candy Shop projects! Don't forget... when shopping in the Paper Issues shop, use code PEARTREE to save 20% on your entire purchase! (<---See it on the button over on the left? Thanks, Tamara!)

I hope everyone is enjoying weather as beautiful as we are this weekend. We were flying kites in our yard barefoot in March this weekend- unheard of in Michigan! :)

Go Green!

The latest issue is up at Paper Issues- Go Green or Go Home! Show us your green layouts, St. Patrick's Day decorations or even show us how you go green by doing a little upcycling on your projects!
Here's my green... my favorite March treat- Shamrock Shakes!

Does anyone else think they should not be adding a cherry to a mint flavored shake? I think it's just wrong. And I freely admit that to get a decent  photo, I had 2 shakes. One was even at 8:00 am after school drop off. :)

Link up your Go Green or Go Home on the Paper Issues blog by March 17! Remember if you need green supplies (or anything else!), head over to the Paper Issues shop on etsy. Use the code PEARTREE for 20% off your purchase- no expiration date and no limits- use it as many times as you want!

Soda Pop Valentines

Here's a little gift you can put together pretty quickly if you still need something for Valentine's Day.

Strawberry Crush is pretty fitting for this gift! ;) I cut the doily heart on my Silhouette Cameo and then glued pink cardstock on the back, leaving the top and bottom unglued so the straw can slip in there. I used Blossom and Maraschino twine from The Twinery to attach the straws to the bottles by tying them around the bottle and through a hole in the doily. I added banners that said Happy Valentine's Day that my daughter signed her name to. The straws are striped paper straws (I've been dying to use them on something since I bought them about 7 months ago!) that I got from Hey Yo Yo on etsy.  Cheap! Easy! Cute! You're welcome! :)
